Information for Competitors....

Thanks to everyone for your interest in participating in the Heads Up Challenge #3. This is our biggest group of Competitors! It is quite an impressive group. I'm sure it will be an exciting event for all.

Now that we have 32 sign-ups, let’s get down to business.

** Watch for changes and updates denoted with the **. My awesome mentor Jordan has wisely instructed me to get less feedback and just tell you what you will do. It will be hard to please everyone as I love to do. So just work with me!

#1 - To officially be in the event, you must transfer $15 to my Poker Stars account under the screen name YoSoyVeneno. If would like to transfer from another account, send me an email at yosoyveneno@yahoo.com and I will see what we can work out. (I will add an * in front of the name here for players that have paid).

#2 - For the assignments of the first round matches, I would like to suggest that we do it by region instead of completely random. So if you want a vote, please make a comment on this blog with your feedback. Majority will rule. (Scratch that, I rule, but input is welcome and appreciated.)

#3 – In order to make the scheduling work best for all, please provide me with your preferred time slots in order of preference. I need at least 4 people willing to play the 2 p.m. time slot. List them as shown below:

** EXAMPLE all times are EST unless noted otherwise -
Available time slots
1. 10:30 p.m.
2. 9:00 p.m.
3. 2:00 p.m.
4. 11:00 p.m.

** Choose from 9 pm, 10 pm, or 2 pm.

#4 – Some of you did not provide all of the contact information. Please send your email address and Poker Stars Screen name.

#5 – For those of who show USA or West Coast as the location on your profile, please send me your state.

#6 – It would be cool to have a trophy like prize for the winner. My suggestion is a card protector with “HUC3 Champion” engraved on it. The cost would come from the prize fund. If you like this idea, please let me know. (**We are doing this. When the money is spent, the winner will still have this awesome prize!)

#7 – If you would like to provide me with a little blurb about yourself or a comment about why you decided to join the HUC3. Send it and I will post it on this site. Would be nice to know a little something about each player. (**These are too cool! Get yours in.)

#8 – I will be posting the new payout structure based on 32 players. Basically, no prize for round 2, reduced amounts at round 3, and a new payout for the additional round. If you have any suggestions, now would be the time to give your input. (** Done. Someone verify that it all works right.)

#9 – If you want to add the banner to your blog, here are your choices:

#10 - Let’s have fun!

I had finished putting all of the links and information on this posting, went to publish, and the process ended with an error. I lost it allllllllllllllllllll. So needless to say, that was a major bummer. Anyone wanna be my secretary?..lol

When I shared my story with Waffles and Duggle, they both made the same remark. They create their postings in other applications and then copy and paste it. Let that be a lesson.

Please test your links and let me know if I made any mistakes on this listing.

Laters...

I think the matchups can be random and the players can determine the best time to play between them. They can have a 2-3 days to meet up and play. If the intent is to allow others to watch, perhaps they can announce time.

I can give bounty of renaming my blog for a week.

People have signed up based on the current structure with a maximum buyin of $26. So the single elimination with a 4 person HU SNG for round one still applies.

As for the assignments into the groups for the first round. I was gonna use available time as one factor. Then either random or by region.

So let me know what you think.

And bounties people...

Anyone who wants to offer a bounty please post to the comments. Thanks!

I like a random selection process also. I don't want to see all the west coasters killing each other. I'd rather see an all west coast final four. sent my $15 a few min ago. i like the card protector idea. i know myspace is gay but, more about me there (pics too).

As old commish to new commish, let me say that Veneno is right about splitting the roster. One of the problems we had last time were that the tourneys happened randomly, so there weren't that many railbirds. Plus, we all had Yahoo IM, so it was different to coordinate. I think pre-set times make sense, and since I am an East Coaster, I'd rather play at 9pm here, when someone on the west coast may not be able to play at 6pm (and vice versa, WC at 9pm, EC at 12am).

Besides, it's be interesting to have a mixed group making it to the Elite Eight. If we have divisions, we are more likely to have East Coast, West Coast and foreign representatives in the final rounds.

Hey Commish, do your thing!

Oh, and for anyone who doesn't know, my blurb:

Jordan from High On Poker is a Sagitarius. He enjoys playing poker and recreational drug use. In his free time he paints, writes Haikus and enjoys a good book. His favorite smell is sulfur and his favorite color is lemon chiffon. Jordan was the originator and commissioner of the HUC1 and HUC2, and is proud to have Veneno as the new Commisioner of the HUC3. He looks forward to losing, as he inevitable does.

Looks like we got 9+ players from out of the US and another 4 from Georgia (which is almost not a state anyway) How about USA vs. World + Georgia. Anyway you can put my first name in (Kevin) with the slogan "tighterer is righterer". I'll transfer funds tonight. My preference is for 7:30PM westcoast or later. I do agree with smokkee that the best players are on the Westcoast, so you may want to break them up in the early rounds.

Need to transfer funds back into 'teller then to 'stars.

Are these times Eastern? Get a rope...

No experience for me

Entry melts like snow

(First attempt at Haiku and HU... I'm toast, right?)

Yes all times are EST.

#2 - I vote random assignment
#3 – 7:30pm time slot
#6 – I like the chip protector idea
#7 – I really enjoy playing heads up so thought I'd finally start to get involved a little bit in the blogger community. I read a ton of them but usually just in the background and don't comment. Found out about this through doublea's, probably my favorite blog to read beside paul phillips.

Kewl. Glad I am in. Moolah transferred. 7:30pm works best for me. Later is even better.

Card protector idea is very cool.

I am a HU rookie but have enjoyed all the other blogger events that I have joined so why not. I can donate with the best of them.

I will offer a bounty (let's face it, I will be sending this). A "custom" 10,000 denomination poker chip with my Poker Stars avatar on it.

Tripjax lost the opportunity to receive it when his Tar Heels fell to the mighty Eagles of Boston College. I might as well give it to someone else. ;)

I am drewspoppoker on Yahoo so feel free to say hi.

that's not exactly what i said Blinders. by the way, Blinder's aka is Tighty McTight. But, after numerous heads up defeats he has learned that AQo is ok to play heads up.

Lo there V and all the others, here are my comments:

money: I just transferred the 15 bucks, they should be sitting in your account

time slots: both 2. (6:30 p.m.) and 3. (2:00 p.m.) would work for me...if you don't find enough people for the 2pm spot I would play there, but if there are others willing to play this early I would be more than happy to play at 6:30pm (no distractions and all...)

roster orga: you're the commish, I'm sure you can come up with something good

trophy: engraved card protector sounds fantastic!

#10 have fun: I'm sure it'll be fun for everyone! On another note: why use another app in fear of losing the post due to errors? Just mark all the text etc (Ctrl-A, Ctrl-C are your friends ;-)) prior to submitting and everything is back (Ctrl-V) in case something happens...

Blurb (#7): "Ingoal from Poker-tastic.com is a student of software engineering during the day and a student of the game at night.

Best known for his participation in numerous blogger tourneys (DADI, WWdN) in the wee hours of the morning - he's located in Germany (ET+6) so most tournaments mentioned above are starting at ridiculous times like 2:30am.

The love of the game and the search for a tough game to beat are more than enough motivation to repress the need of sleep.

The reason why he decided to play in the HUC3 is simple: There's nothing better than a good poker game, especially if you're certain that you'll have a good time along with the chance to beat a player head to head!"

Sidenote: It's Ingoal, not InGoal...more about that and many other things on my about the author page on my blog ;-)

Sidenote 2: I'll put up one of the banners right away, hopefully we'll have railbirds at all the matches...one thing is for sure: I'll watch as many matches as possible!

Sidenote 3: I'm really looking forward to this one, I hope we'll see some good matches and I'm sure that all players involved will have their fun (either by playing good poker, winning, maybe even by losing and hitting the chat as railbirds)! Let the games begin!

Random is okay, region is okay; don't really care. My order of preference for time slot is as in your example; I really can't do 2:00PM.

As far a trophy prize, how about a DOUBLE batch of chocolate cookies?

I joined the HUC because I want to escape from my cage and take over the world.

I sent my funds today. Happy head butting.

Hey V, Any time is ok for me..the later the better but i can swing any of them. I like the card protector as long as it doesn't eat up much of the money.

V: Transfer made from WyCowboy1. 10:30EST or later is fine.

biggestron: Jackie Stewart? Of course I recall him. I also remember the first episode of Happy Days, MASH, Late Night w/Letterman, Alf, Soap, All That Glitters and the Original Saturday Night Live Not Ready For Primetime Players.

I also remember when 'stock car racing' was just that... STOCK CARS - not aerodyned mock-ups of today.

('SNL' of modern era is just plan crap compared to the old skits.)

#1 - Money Sent
#2 - I vote random assignment
#3 – 8:30pm time slot
#3a - 2pm would work on a sunday
#6 – I like the chip protector idea
#7 - seeking revenge on Wilwonka the Impostor. I am the true Wwonka.
