Round 1 is complete

We now have all of the winners from Round 1.

Surflexus is now representing the Maniacs! Congratulations.

Big News..Winner gets to play Blogfather

For anyone who is following our tournament, we have the Competitors for the last round one event today at 4 p.m. EST on Full Tilt - the HUC3 Maniacs table. We had two last minute replacements to fill our openings TanOrpheus (another UK blogger) and SoxLover. Thanks guys for joining.

We also have our first winner for Round 2. WillWonka beat ToddCommish in two matches in order to move on to the next round. Although you wouldn't know from their blogs because I didn't notice a write-up yet..lol

For Round 3, the winners from the groups below will play each other:

Group 1
Maniac
Donkey
Bluffer
Shark

Group 2
Suckout
Fish
Squirrel
TiltMonster

Now for the exciting news. I was chatting with the Blogfather yesterday and asked him if there was any chance he would be interested in filling our last HUC3 spot. It was then that I made the discovery that Iggy has never really played in a Heads Up Match. Can you imagine my delight? Iggy is a HU virgin. I mean you don't find that everyday. This was just too good to be true. Before you know it, we had struck up a deal. I realized that we could not waste a HU match with the Blogfather on just any Competitor. So the winner of the HUC3 will get the opportunity to play a Professional Poker Player afterall. As for his cherry, well..that my friends is for me to enjoy. Thats right, you heard me. Veneno is gonna pop Iggy's HU cherry in a best 2 of 3 series of HU matches. We have not set the date or times, but be watching for it.

The winner of the HUC3 will be getting an extra $15 donated by Fairnbalcnd who said to keep his prize money. So this can be used to fund the HU matches with the Blogfather.

Best of luck to our Competitor's today.

Someone actually asked me once where is the Chat Room? There isn't an offical room. Many of us bloggers hook up on IM to chat.

If you are interested in joining the chat, I will start a group conference, just send me a request to be added to your buddy list on yahoo. Take a guess on my screen name...

YoSoyVeneno would be correct.

Let's have a good time!

Round 1 Information for Competitors..

Whew..I just finished matching everyone up and sending out passwords....

Round 1 matches will all take place Thursday, March 23rd on Full Tilt. Once you have completed your match, the winner needs to send me the results from the match. Then I can post the results on our official Heads Up Challenge site for the World to see!

If you did not receive the information for your match via email, please contact me as soon as possible.

Please register for your match as soon as possible to make sure there are no problems.

For future matches, players will work together arrange for a time to play a best of 3 series. I will provide each player with an email address for your opponent in order to make arrangements.

Good luck everyone!

Update for Competitors

Hello Everyone,

I'm sure you are all excited about our upcoming event. It all starts this Thursday on March 23rd.

Most everything is coming together. We have the 32 Competitors. All but 3 have paid their money into the prize fund. And the time slots seem to be coming together.

Aside from the group that will play at 4 p.m. Everyone else for the most part is available for 9 or 10 pm slots. There may have been some confusion because initially I tried to be flexible for all. Sorry, this is my first time coordinating. I think I have learned a few things for next time.

So just to be clear. The time slots are set for either 9 or 10 p.m. EST.

Okay..now for the hiccup..

Apparently Poker Stars does not offer the 4 person HU structure in a private event. WeakPlayer, as an affiliate, tried to get things worked out on that end, but without success. We can still set-up the private games, but the payout will be for top 3 places I think and not just 1st place. (read the email chain below if you are curious).

Not to worry, we are not going to let this get in the way. You will have 2 options. I know, I know..options...I would like to just tell you to pick option #1, but I realize that may not work for all.

Before I get to the options, let me tell you what I did. Once I got the rejection email from Poker Stars, I started to explorer solutions. I shot an email to Full Tilt with the details of the structure for this event. Told them to rush this because we already had a group of poker players ready for this event. This morning I got the response from them that the private tables are all set-up and ready to go. Wow. Awesome. That is the kind of service that I like to see. So if you are willing to switch over to play at Full Tilt. It is ready to go.

If you need a funds transfer, I can do it for a few people. And maybe a few others can swing it.

#1 - Play at Full Tilt at either 9 PM or 10 PM.

#2 - Play at Poker Stars - and if you do not win the event, transfer the prize to me and I will transfer to the winner.

(Group at 4 PM, I need all of you to be in aggreement on where to play. So let me know where).

At first I was pretty disappointed at this little hurtle, but once I realize we can still work it out. It was okay. I hope you feel the same way.

So, to get your password and table assignment. Do the following.

Reply to this post with option #1 or #2 and time slot 9 PM or 10 PM.

I will start assignments in order of response. That will be an easy way to put people together.

Happy Head Hunting!!!!!!!!!

And the Competitors are....

We have a great line up of Competitors....

1. * Veneno (aka HU Goddess)
Poker Stars - yosoyveneno
Location - California

I love playing Heads Up! Why? Cause the games are short. There is lots of action. I'm pretty good at it. And it is oh sooo satisfying to whip a man on the virtual felt. I don't mind a Catfight periodically, although, they are not nearly as appealing.

2. * Tripjax - HUC1 Champion
Poker Stars - tripjax
Location - North Carolina
Mildly mentally challenged, TripJax spends his days chasing squirrels and his nights eating squirrels. When not chasing or eating squirrels, TripJax sells his signature Mystery Meat Soup on eBay and uses the proceeds to enter Heads-Up matches at various poker sites under the screen name NutNButNuts.

3. * HighonPoker (Jordan)
Poker Stars - HighonPokr (no E)
Location - New York

Jordan from High On Poker is a Sagitarius. He enjoys playing poker and recreational drug use. In his free time he paints, writes Haikus and enjoys a good book. His favorite smell is sulfur and his favorite color is lemon chiffon. Jordan was the originator and commissioner of the HUC1 and HUC2, and is proud to have Veneno as the new Commisioner of the HUC3. He looks forward to losing, as he inevitable does.

4. * SteelerJosh - Returning Fighter
Poker Stars - SteelerJosh
Location - Ohio
Computer Geek in NE Ohio seeking HU competitor. Must enjoy folding to my bluffs and calling my value bets. Hammer Dropper preferred. Interested in 1 on 1 and 4 on 4 action, I do it all!

5. * TraumaPoker - HUC2 Champ
Pokers Stars - TraumaPoker
Location - Georgia
6. * Smokkee
Location - California
Poker Stars - smokkee
7. * Ingoal
Poker Stars - Ingoal
Location - Germany
Ingoal from Poker-tastic.com is a student of software engineering during the day and a student of the game at night.

Best known for his participation in numerous blogger tourneys (DADI, WWdN) in the wee hours of the morning - he's located in Germany (ET+6) so most tournaments mentioned above are starting at ridiculous times like 2:30am.

The love of the game and the search for a tough game to beat are more than enough motivation to repress the need of sleep.

The reason why he decided to play in the HUC3 is simple: There's nothing better than a good poker game, especially if you're certain that you'll have a good time along with the chance to beat a player head to head!

8. * Hammer-Hoyzo
Poker Stars - Hoyazo
Location - New York
9. * PresidentDaveLee
Poker Stars - presdlee
Location - Maryland
New poker player and blogger check-raising his way to political office. Vote for dave, not a fuckup!

10. * WeakPlayer
Poker Stars - Weak_player
Location - Georgia
I joined the HUC because I want to escape from my cage and take over the world.

11. * Katitude
Poker Stars - Katitude
Location - Canada
Dear assorted Poker Gods and Goddesses; please accept my humble offering of the many chips that have been bled from me. I beseech you, I pray that you won't let me go out first. And while I don't want to appear greedy, it would be super nice if I could take out Veneno and/or place In the Money. TIA, your humble servant, Katitude.

12. * Doubleas
Poker Stars - Doubleas
Location - Virginia
I played the first HUC and had a blast, albeit outmatched. I missed getting into the second HUC by two minutes and six seconds. Once I missed HUC2, I started realizing other things I've missed out on in my life. I've never painted a big ball with polka dots. I've never farted in a hurricane. I've never punched a police person in the mouth. I've never drank enough alcohol to be admitted to the hospital for alcohol poisoning. I've never even urinated off the Eiffel Tower. So since then, I've done every one of those things I mentioned and I'm not feeling so good these days. If I missed the HUC3, I'd be worried I would be reminded of even more fun and exciting activities that I haven't tried. It could kill me. So having the ability to play in HUC3 is saving my life.

13. * Mowenumdown (Kelly)
Poker Stars - Mowenumdown
Location - Georgia
14. * Surflexus
Poker Stars - Surflexus
Location - Georgia
15. * Juliette
Poker Stars - Louddwnunder
Location - Australia
16 * BoobieLover (Wes)
Poker Stars - Boobie Lover
Location - South Dakota
17. * Blinders (Kevin)
Poker Stars - Blinders
Location - California
Heads Up poker is lame. I would rather be sitting at a 20 player single table cash game where my tightness would rule. Too much about playing the player and not enough about playing the cards for my liking. Somehow I do ok, but after about 15 minutes I get bored and a little push-happy. Hopefully I will get the matches done in 14 minutes or less.

Kevin's slogan "tighterer is righterer".

18. * PokerSweetHome (Colin)
Poker Stars - Pokerswthome
Location - United Kingdom
19. * AussieDave
Poker Stars - Davee3283
Location - Australia
20. * DonkeyPuncher
Poker Stars - DnkyPnchr74
Location - Illinois
21. * ToddCommish
Poker Stars - ToddCommish
Location - California
Runner-up in WPBT blogger event in October 2004 (can't remember if it was the 3rd or 4th event). Former Jeopardy contestant. All-around poker mediocrity with flashes of above-averageness.

22. * Biggestron
Poker Stars - bdidde
Location - West Coast
23. * L'artiste
Poker Stars - ArtofSuckout
Location - Canada
I’m an absolutely pathetic Heads Up player so I’m not expecting to tear the house down or anything. I’ll be Grade A Primo dead money in that thing.

24. * WillWonka
Location - Missouri
Poker Stars - WillWonka
25. * FishyMcDonK(Rob)
Location - Canada
Poker Stars - FishyMcDonK
I hope I can live up to my screen name and suckout my way to victory.

I'm a total fish, enjoy my money.

28. * Shahmat (Sol)
Location -Canada
Poker Stars = Shahmat
I really enjoy playing heads up so thought I'd finally start to get involved a little bit in the blogger community. I read a ton of them but usually just in the background and don't comment. Found out about this through doublea's, probably my favorite blog to read beside paul phillips.

29. Guin
Location -Canada
30. * Drewspop (Chris)
Poker Stars - Drewspop
Location -Massachusetts
31. * HCR
Poker Stars - HCR33

Information for Competitors....

Thanks to everyone for your interest in participating in the Heads Up Challenge #3. This is our biggest group of Competitors! It is quite an impressive group. I'm sure it will be an exciting event for all.

Now that we have 32 sign-ups, let’s get down to business.

** Watch for changes and updates denoted with the **. My awesome mentor Jordan has wisely instructed me to get less feedback and just tell you what you will do. It will be hard to please everyone as I love to do. So just work with me!

#1 - To officially be in the event, you must transfer $15 to my Poker Stars account under the screen name YoSoyVeneno. If would like to transfer from another account, send me an email at yosoyveneno@yahoo.com and I will see what we can work out. (I will add an * in front of the name here for players that have paid).

#2 - For the assignments of the first round matches, I would like to suggest that we do it by region instead of completely random. So if you want a vote, please make a comment on this blog with your feedback. Majority will rule. (Scratch that, I rule, but input is welcome and appreciated.)

#3 – In order to make the scheduling work best for all, please provide me with your preferred time slots in order of preference. I need at least 4 people willing to play the 2 p.m. time slot. List them as shown below:

** EXAMPLE all times are EST unless noted otherwise -
Available time slots
1. 10:30 p.m.
2. 9:00 p.m.
3. 2:00 p.m.
4. 11:00 p.m.

** Choose from 9 pm, 10 pm, or 2 pm.

#4 – Some of you did not provide all of the contact information. Please send your email address and Poker Stars Screen name.

#5 – For those of who show USA or West Coast as the location on your profile, please send me your state.

#6 – It would be cool to have a trophy like prize for the winner. My suggestion is a card protector with “HUC3 Champion” engraved on it. The cost would come from the prize fund. If you like this idea, please let me know. (**We are doing this. When the money is spent, the winner will still have this awesome prize!)

#7 – If you would like to provide me with a little blurb about yourself or a comment about why you decided to join the HUC3. Send it and I will post it on this site. Would be nice to know a little something about each player. (**These are too cool! Get yours in.)

#8 – I will be posting the new payout structure based on 32 players. Basically, no prize for round 2, reduced amounts at round 3, and a new payout for the additional round. If you have any suggestions, now would be the time to give your input. (** Done. Someone verify that it all works right.)

#9 – If you want to add the banner to your blog, here are your choices:

Large one:

Small:

Animated gif:

#10 - Let’s have fun!

I had finished putting all of the links and information on this posting, went to publish, and the process ended with an error. I lost it allllllllllllllllllll. So needless to say, that was a major bummer. Anyone wanna be my secretary?..lol

When I shared my story with Waffles and Duggle, they both made the same remark. They create their postings in other applications and then copy and paste it. Let that be a lesson.

Please test your links and let me know if I made any mistakes on this listing.

Heads Up is Coming....

It looks like this will be one awesome competition!

A few more of our previous competitors (AussieDave, DonkeyPuncher, and WillWonka) are back for another try.

As for Drizz, he made a conditional offer to participate. He wants to play DP for his first competitor. Nice try Drizz, but only fate can assure you of that deal. Just agree to play by the rules, so you can join the party. We all know you can hold your own with anyone on the list.

This is a great way to get to know other bloggers and have some fun.

We just need 7 more to join to have two groups of 32. Then we can have some fun dividing up the groups.

If you haven't got you name on the list yet, I suggest you do it now.

So far for the next 16 we have:

1. Blinders
2. PokerSweetHome
3. AussieDave
4. DonkeyPuncher
5. ToddCommish
6. Biggestrom
7. l'artiste
8. WillWonka
9. FishMcDonk(Rob)
10.Fairnbalncd

Super SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heads-Up Challenge #3

I hereby announce that we are taking entries into the 3rd Heads-Up Challenge! As the reigning HU Goddess, Jordan has invited me to be the new Commissioner for this event!

The rules have changed, so please take a look at the new game format.

The plan is to gather a group of 16 combatants. Round 1 of the event will take place on Thursday, March 23rd at one of 4 time slots, all EST - 8:30 p.m., 9:30 p.m., or 10:30 p.m. In order to accommodate interest in other parts of the World, I am adding a 2 p.m. time slot.

Players will enter into a single elimination - 4 person Heads Up Private Sit and Go game on Poker Stars for $10 + 1. The winners will move on to the next round. These matches will be scheduled in advance as private events.

The remaining rounds will be 2 person Heads-Up matches arranged by random selection. Each match will be best of 3. The winners will advance and repeat the process, until we are down to 2. The finalists will face off heads-up in a best of 3 match.

To enter the event, all contestants will have to transfer $15 in advance for the prize pool. If we have 16 participants, out of the $240 prize pool, the winner will receive $120, 2nd will receive $80, and 3rd and 4th will receive $20.

For remaining rounds, $10 matches will take place on Poker Stars, unless the players mutually agree to play on another site and for an alternate amount.

Based on 16 participants, below is a cost breakdown:

Out on Round 1 - Maximum Cost $26
- Prize pool $15
- Match Buy-in $11

Out on Round 2 - minimum Profit $11
- Round 1 Cost $26
- Round 1 Payout $40 (net profit from round 1 = $14)
- Round 2 Match Buy-in $33 (3 * $11)
- Round 2 Payout $10 (1 win)
- 3/4 place Prize $20

Out on Round 3

2nd Place - minimum Profit $58
- Net Profit Round 2 $1 (+14 round 1, -33 buy-ins, +20 payouts)
- Round 3 Match Buy-in $33 (3 * 11)
- Round 3 Payout $10 (1 win)
- 2nd place prize $80

1st Place - minimum Profit $108
- Net Profit Round 2 $1 (+14 round 1, -33 buy-ins, +20 payouts)
- Round 3 Match Buy-in $33 (3 * 11)
- Round 3 Payout $20 (2 wins)
- 1st place prize $120

If the number of interested players reaches 32, the participants will be split into Regional Divisions (i.e. East / West). Then one additional face off will be held for the ultimate champion. The prize structure will be adjusted to accommodate an additional level. There would be no prize for Round 2. So the maximum cost for this round would change to $9. The prize for 2nd in each Division would be reduced, etc.

The standard night for each assigned match will be on Thursday nights. However, players may mutually agree to alternate nights. All matches should be scheduled 2 days in advance and be reported to the Commissioner for announcement. All matches should be held within 7 days of the assignment. The entire event should go for 3 - 4 weeks.

So, who is interested? Send your request to participate to yosoyveneno@yahoo.com. Priority goes to past Challengers and then on a first come basis. Please provide your email address, IM (if applicable), website (if applicable), Poker Stars screen name and time slot availability.

Let's get it on..........
